The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fountain of Youth arrived in 2025 from Maison Yusif, the Ghanaian house founded by Yusif Meizongo Jnr. The brief was simple: radiance. Not nostalgia for a younger self, but the physical sensation of energy returning after a long drain. Citrus on top, praline underneath. The structure mirrors what the name promises. It opens like a window thrown open, then settles into something you want to keep wearing once the room stops noticing.
What's interesting is the pairing. Bergamot, lime and Sicilian orange at the top give that sharp, cooling brightness. Then the middle drops into fig, apple, and lotus. Fig especially carries a green sweetness that bridges the two halves, a quality that pulls the brighter top notes downward into something softer without losing their lift. The base finishes with praline and vanilla alongside white musk and cedar, which grounds the composition without weighing it down. The accord profile reads fruity, sweet, and musky, with woody undertones running beneath the surface.
The evolution
The opening is pure citrus lift. Bergamot, Sicilian orange, and lime arrive in quick succession, with the orange carrying a fleshy sweetness the bergamot sharpens. Lime rides underneath as a wire, taut and almost mineral. Nothing heavy yet. Just clean brightness, the kind of opening that catches attention from across a room. As the wear develops, the fruit in the heart begins to register. Apple adds a crisp sweetness, fig brings something greener and almost milky at once, and lotus softens the edges with a cool, aqueous quality. The composition loses its sharp edges here. What was a burst becomes a pour, the citrus stepping back and allowing the warmer fruit notes to take the foreground. The transition is gradual, almost seamless in the way each phase hands off to the next, with no single note ever disappearing entirely but rather shifting in prominence.
Cultural impact
Fountain of Youth arrives as a limited release, positioned at the intersection of citrus brightness and gourmand warmth. The citrus-and-praline structure reads as accessible, even generous, with an opening that offers immediate appeal and a drydown that rewards continued wear. The composition balances its sweetness carefully, using cedar and white musk to anchor the warmer notes and prevent the fragrance from drifting too far into dessert territory. The result is a release that feels both inviting and considered, one that wears easily across different settings and temperatures without losing its character.
