The beginning
Fabulous Orchid arrived in 2022 as part of Liu Jo's fragrance mist lineup. The brand built it around orchid, but not the shy, green kind you'd find in a florist's case. This orchid is surrounded: backed by Indian jasmine, gardenia, and a wall of orange blossom, then cushioned underneath by iris, cacao, and Madagascar vanilla. It's a composition designed for the woman Liu Jo has always dressed: someone who wants femininity with teeth. The brand's official copy frames it as purity and innocence, which is their way of saying confidence without edge. The mist itself reads as approachable, the kind of thing you reach for without thinking about it.
The interesting choice here is the coffee note. The evolution
The opening is the loudest part: coffee and almond hit together, sharp and warm at the same time, while bergamot and blackcurrant keep it from going too sweet. The lemon adds a citric flicker underneath. Then the white florals arrive, not one at a time but almost all at once, a wall of tuberose and jasmine and orange blossom that turns the whole thing creamy and dense. The orchid sits somewhere in the middle of that cloud, a softer note that the others orbit. As the hours pass, the iris powder starts showing through, and that's when it shifts character. The florals fade and the base takes over: cacao first, dry and slightly bitter, then Madagascar vanilla rounding it out, with tonka and cashmere wood giving it that warm, close-to-skin softness.
