The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
John Galliano founded his house in 2008, bringing the theatrical drama of the runway into every fragrance creation. Parlez-Moi d'Amour Charming Edition arrived in 2013 as a collector's iteration on the original, designed to marry youthful energy with decorative luxury. Perfumer Alienor Massenet was entrusted with preserving the original's fruity-floral spirit while introducing new complexity through warmer spice and deeper woods.
The note selection reflects a balance between playful fruit and timeless florals, anchored by woody-earthy elements that ensure longevity beyond the initial spray. Blueberry was chosen to capture attention immediately, while Jasmine and Rose provide emotional depth. Patchouli Leaf and Musk ensure the drydown feels intentional rather than an afterthought, giving the fragrance a complete arc suitable for daytime wear.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with Blueberry and Bergamot, a pairing that feels both modern and accessible. Ginger arrives subtly, adding a warmth that bridges the bright opening into the floral heart. Jasmine and Rose then unfold, bringing classic romance to the composition while Lavender keeps the florals grounded with an herbal clarity. As the heart fades, Patchouli Leaf and Cypress emerge, shifting the mood toward something more introspective and earthy before Musk settles in for the long haul.
Cultural impact
Since its 2013 limited‑edition launch, the Charming Edition has become a collector’s favorite, praised for its playful pendant bottle and the way its fresh‑fruity‑spicy profile stands out among Galliano’s more classic scents. Wearers often cite its ability to turn a casual day into a subtle statement, making it a frequent pick for spring outings and garden parties.
