The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Véronique Nyberg created Éclat Éternel in 2012. The answer lived in white flowers, jasmine sambac absolute and tuberose, materials that carry both luminosity and weight. Bergamot and grapefruit opened the composition with sharp clarity. The name itself is the brief: éclat (brilliance, radiance, a flash) meeting éternel (forever, enduring). This was meant to be a glow you carry, not a moment that fades. Jasmine and tuberose create a radiant, luminous heart that feels both weightless and deeply present, the florals blending into a warm, enveloping presence that anchors the entire composition. The white flowers carry an inherent brightness that catches and holds attention, making the fragrance feel alive and shimmering against the skin.
The pyramid is compact but intentional. Two citrus top notes, bergamot and grapefruit, establish immediate brightness before handing off to the heart. That heart is strictly white floral: jasmine sambac absolute, known for its warm, almost indolic richness, paired with tuberose, which adds a creamy, slightly green complexity. The base leans soft rather than heavy, cashmere wood gives a woodsy skin-feel without bark or smoke, while vanilla provides warmth that lingers without projecting. The structure is essentially a straight line from cool light to warm light, with no dramatic tonal shift along the way.
The evolution
The opening announces itself immediately: grapefruit brightness, bergamot clarity, a crisp citrus burst that invites you in before the florals take over. Jasmine and tuberose arrive together, not a gradual transition but a deliberate handoff, as if the composition knows exactly when to change scenes. The white floral heart holds for several hours, creamy and slightly animalic in the best way, the kind of presence that stays close to skin but doesn't disappear. Cashmere wood and vanilla arrive quietly in the final movement, adding warmth and a subtle powdery softness. On fabric, the citrus stage extends slightly longer. The drydown, that cashmere-vanilla base, settles into a quiet, intimate warmth that lingers for hours.
Cultural impact
Eclat Eternel enters a market where consumers seek fresh, sophisticated scents that work across occasions. The emphasis on bright top notes reflects a broader shift toward effortless elegance and minimalism in fragrance preferences. This scent appeals to those who want complexity without heaviness, bridging casual and formal contexts. Its accessibility makes it approachable for newcomers while satisfying seasoned collectors who appreciate refined composition.
