The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Paolo Terenzi built Elenis as part of Giardino Benessere's Giardino Dell'Eden collection, founded on the premise that fragrance functions as a form of mental wellness. The third-generation perfumer designed Elenis to recreate the physiological comfort of eating a sweet dessert, something that soothes on contact. The note palette runs deliberately sweet and edible, intended to feel immediately familiar and comforting without overcomplication.
The note structure in Elenis prioritizes psychological comfort through familiar sweetness. Vanilla and honey create immediate recognition, while chestnut, coffee, and acacia add depth without demanding attention. Frangipani bridges sweet and complex, tonka bean brings coumarin lift in the base, and no note exists without purpose. The composition works because every element either soothes or intrigues.
The evolution
The opening makes no demands for patience. Cream, milk, and bourbon vanilla arrive together, with heliotrope and coumarin adding an almost powdery softness and hay providing a subtle natural grounding. The heart settles into sugar, sugar cane, chestnut, and honey, a layered sweetness where dark caramel, roasted nut, and golden nectar coexist in something both comforting and slightly addictive. The drydown shifts the register with buttermilk and vanilla retaining the cream, coffee bringing a roasted bitter counterpoint, and acacia contributing clean woody sweetness. Frangipani softens the transition between sweet and complex, while tonka bean lifts the base, leaving skin warm and edible for hours after the initial application.
Cultural impact
Elenis reflects a modern Italian gourmand tradition while honoring the historic use of vanilla and coffee in Mediterranean perfumery. Its launch in 2025 coincided with a resurgence of creamy, sweet compositions that appeal to both nostalgic consumers and younger audiences seeking comfort scents. By blending La Réunion vanilla with Italian heliotrope and a hint of hay, the perfume bridges rural heritage and urban luxury, resonating with consumers who value authenticity and craftsmanship. The scent’s warm profile has inspired social media trends around cozy winter rituals, influencing boutique retailers to create complementary home fragrance lines.
