Amal is a love letter in olfactive form, dedicated to a mother whose presence shaped everything that came after. The official Parfumo description frames her as the founder's first companion, the best friend, the forever friend, and that arc from childhood tenderness to adult gratitude runs underneath every note choice. Launched in 2022 as part of the Chapter I collection, the fragrance renders maternal warmth into scent: rose, caramel, vanilla, and tobacco become the vocabulary of comfort. You can smell the intention in the way the florals soften against the gourmand sweetness, the way the smoky base wraps everything in something that feels like a held breath.
What makes Amal work as a composition is the tension between its powdery iris and its gourmand heart. Most rose fragrances pick a lane: either the cool, lipstick-stain rose of a classic floral, or the jammy, drenched rose of an oriental. Amal does both at once. The sage and mint at the top add an herbal coolness that keeps the sweetness from tipping into syrup. The caramel and vanilla in the heart are generous but balanced by violet leaf, which adds a green bitterness that prevents the whole thing from collapsing into dessert. In the base, tobacco and oakmoss provide a dusty, grounded finish that makes the sweetness feel earned rather than just pretty.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are all cool restraint: sage, lemon, and that powdery iris give way to a rose that feels more like lipstick than a garden bloom. Violet leaf adds a green edge, almost like crushed stems. By the thirty-minute mark, the sugar arrives. Caramel folds into the rose and the whole composition warms up considerably, with ylang-ylang adding a tropical creaminess that bridges into the base. Mint is a strange choice this far in, but it works as a cool counterpoint to all that sweetness, keeping your nose alert. The drydown, which settles in around the two-hour mark, belongs to the tobacco and sandalwood. The caramel and vanilla don't disappear, but they take a back seat to a warmer, smokier finish. Oakmoss adds that old-library dustiness, a dry and slightly bitter counterweight that keeps the sweetness honest. What's surprising is how long the rose persists.
