The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Be Delicious Ice Pop collection takes its name seriously, these fragrances are literally inspired by frozen treats. Citrus Splash translates the experience of biting into a citrus ice pop on the hottest day of summer into something you can wear. Released in 2025 as an Eau de Parfum, it sits in the playful corner of the DKNY fragrance universe where sweetness and refreshment aren't sins, they're the point.
The top note combination is more unusual than it first appears. Blackcurrant bud is typically a heart-note ingredient, using it at the opening gives the citrus a sharper, greener quality that prevents the composition from sliding into generic sweetness. Combined with grapefruit and peach sorbet, it creates a cold fizz effect that actually smells like something frozen rather than just smelling sweet.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and tart, grapefruit's citrus punch meets blackcurrant bud's green bite, like the fizz escaping a can of lemonade opened on a hot porch. For the first twenty minutes, this is all sharp, cold, almost effervescent. Then the peach arrives quietly, adding a soft sweetness that rounds the edges without dulling them. The heart phase brings flowers, freesia first, crisp and clean, then gentian for an unexpected bitter green note, and finally peony to soften everything into powdery warmth. The drydown is where this gets interesting. Amber and benzoin create a honeyed warmth that wraps around skin rather than projecting outward. Juniper berries add a clean, almost gin-like quality that keeps things grounded. Musk provides that intimate, close-to-skin effect, and sandalwood gives the final creaminess, like the last hint of sweetness after the popsicle is gone.
Cultural impact
The sweet-citrus trend isn't new, but the ice pop framing gives it fresh energy. Wearers consistently describe this as a mood-lifter, the kind of fragrance that makes you reach for it again and again on hot days. The gourmand element (peach sorbet, benzoin) keeps it from being just another fresh citrus, while the florals add enough complexity to make it interesting beyond the first spray.
