Why it exists.
The beginning
Astroberry comes from Gabriel Gabor, founder of De Gabor, a Parisian house whose Astro Collection frames its fragrances as cosmic portraits. Astroberry draws its inspiration from the unlikely image of a strawberry nebula, glowing, improbable, a little absurd, and entirely worth chasing. Launched as an extrait de parfum, the fragrance treats fruit not as a passing trend note but as a fully developed character deserving of serious attention within its concentration. The brief reads less sweet confection and more luminous territory, a dessert planet captured in glass, where berry, florals, and warm base materials each get room to land.
What makes Astroberry structurally unusual is the sheer weight given to strawberry. The note appears in the top, the heart, and the base as strawberry jam, turning a single fruit into a repeating motif rather than a one-note opener. Pair that with salted caramel, vanilla, tonka, and a chypre accord, and the composition refuses to behave like the typical fruity-floral crowd. The chypre backbone introduces a darker, more restrained quality under all the sweetness, while salted caramel and patchouli keep the warmth from tipping into pure gourmand territory.
The evolution
On skin, Astroberry opens with a sharp, almost cheeky burst of lemon and pineapple cutting through the strawberry, violet leaf adding a cool green edge that keeps the fruit from cloying. The first 20 minutes feel like biting into cold berries on a hot day. By the half-hour mark, the rose, jasmine, and orris root rise through the fruit, softening the edges into something that reads closer to Turkish delight than candy. Pomegranate and red berries build the heart into a jam-like density. The transition into the base is slow and deliberate; around the two-hour mark, the caramel and salted caramel arrive, and the strawberry reasserts itself as strawberry jam rather than fresh fruit. Patchouli and the chypre accord give the drydown a dusky, grounded quality, while cedarwood, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, and tonka bean settle into a warm, slightly resinous finish.

Astroberry sits at the sweet end of De Gabor's collection, and its extrait concentration and chypre-anchored base give it a structural gravity that most fruity-floral releases don't attempt. The chypre accord running beneath the strawberry, caramel, and tonka creates a countercurrent of mossy restraint that keeps the sweetness from drifting into uncomplicated territory.
