The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Como Lake has long fascinated Celso Fadelli, the house's founding perfumer, who spent early mornings studying how light behaves at the water's edge. Silenzio emerged from his desire to bottle that particular kind of quiet, specifically the hush that settles over Lake Como at dawn. The brief was simple: a fragrance that feels like the moment between night and morning, when the world holds its breath. Mandarin orange represented the first light breaking across the lake, while sage captured the breeze that moves through the reeds along the shoreline.
Fadelli selected mate for the heart not for its typical association but for its particular bitterness, which he felt captured something essential about the lake's morning air. The choice of iris alongside jasmine and rose was deliberate, adding a cool, powdery element that keeps the floral heart from becoming heavy. Cashmere and musk in the drydown function as a quiet finish that never overwhelms, allowing the earlier notes to remain present throughout wear. The pairing of tonka bean with moss creates a balance between warmth and earthiness that reflects the lakeside landscape.
The evolution
The fragrance begins at sunrise, with mandarin orange as the initial light and sage cutting through the air with herbal clarity. As the morning progresses, the heart stage introduces mate as the unexpected anchor, its green-bitter character reminiscent of mist rising from the water, while jasmine, rose and iris develop more slowly, their floral warmth reflecting light off the lake's surface. By mid-morning, the drydown phase takes over, cashmere and musk wrapping the wearer in something Intimate, moss adding depth from the shoreline, tonka bean lending warmth, and amber glowing softly as the light strengthens. This progression mirrors how Lake Como itself transforms from stillness to gentle activity.
Cultural impact
Silenzio has become a quiet cultural touchstone for those who seek calm moments in bustling environments. Since its 2018 debut, it has been featured in lifestyle articles that celebrate understated elegance, and it frequently appears in curated playlists for sunrise meditation sessions. The scent’s blend of mandarin orange and sage resonates with listeners of acoustic folk music, creating a subtle link between auditory and olfactory experiences. Its modest sillage and balanced composition have earned it a place in community gatherings where participants share stories of lakeside walks and early‑morning reflections, reinforcing a shared identity rooted in serenity and natural beauty.
