The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Prize Pour Femme arrived in 2022 as part of Chris Adams' Platinum Collection, a lineup that treats the floral-fruity template with old-school structure. The opening is built around strawberry, bergamot, and aldehydes, pairing bright fruit with a fizzy, sparkling lift that adds energy to the first impression. Peach joins the fruit accord, giving the top a juicy, ripe quality that softens the sharper citrus edges. The heart stacks rose, ylang-ylang, iris, violet, narcissus, orris root, lily of the valley, and jasmine, a serious floral lineup that anchors the sweetness above. Together, the eight floral materials fill out the middle of the composition, competing for space while the fruity top and creamy base hold everything in place.
What makes the structure worth noticing is how many florals share the heart. Eight materials compete for the same window, and they only work because the base underneath is so warm and grounded. Sandalwood, benzoin, tonka bean, amber, and vetiver give the drydown a creamy weight that keeps the more delicate heart notes from scattering. The aldehydes at the top add a fizzy lift that catches light off the fruit. Each layer is dressed up as something simple on the surface, but the composition underneath runs deeper than the opening suggests.
The evolution
The aldehydes crack open the composition, lifting the strawberry and peach into something brighter than either fruit alone. Bergamot and orange add a clean citrus edge that keeps the sweetness in check. As the aldehydes fade, the floral heart takes over with rose leading, supported by ylang-ylang and jasmine for a creamy richness. Iris and violet add a powdery softness to the edges, while narcissus weaves through the bouquet with its slightly green, earthy character. The orris root sits alongside narcissus, adding a rooty depth that keeps the florals from drifting into something too sweet or heady. Lily of the valley brightens the arrangement, lifting the heavier flowers. The florals linger on skin, never fading to nothing, and the base arrives slowly in the background. Benzoin comes first, followed by sandalwood and tonka bean settling into a creamy golden warmth.
Cultural impact
Prize Pour Femme sits in the Platinum Collection, a lineup that prizes fuller, more layered compositions. The fragrance itself layers aldehydes, fruit, florals, and a creamy amber base into a single build. The aldehyde-fruity opening gives it an immediate brightness, while the generous floral heart and creamy amber base provide the warmth underneath. It is the kind of fragrance that rewards close attention, revealing new facets as the aldehydes settle and the florals come forward.
