The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Jasmin Martini takes its name from the cocktail but isn't trying to smell like one. BLNDRGRPHy's framework treats each fragrance as a translation, working from existing material rather than inventing from nothing. The composition centers on jasmine and gin, two materials that share a certain bittersweetness in their raw form. Camille Chemardin built around that tension, anchoring jasmine in a structural base of Iso E Super and leather, which creates a bitter-floral dynamic that avoids the softer sweetness found in more conventional jasmine fragrances. The result is a fragrance that references the drink without mimicking it, more remix than recreation, where gin notes appear in the base alongside leather, giving the jasmine a grounded quality rather than allowing it to drift upward.
The unusual pairing of olive and wine lees in the heart is what makes this composition stand out from other jasmine fragrances. Olive in perfumery is uncommon. It appears here not for its green aspect but for its texture, a certain bitter roundness that adds depth without becoming sharp. Wine lees bring a fermented quality that ties the jasmine to something earthier, something with weight. The result is jasmine that doesn't float, it anchors.
The evolution
The opening hits sharp and fast, grapefruit, pink pepper, juniper, a citrus-botanical burst that feels like the first sip of something cold. This initial phase is vibrant and declarative, the top notes announcing themselves before the jasmine asserts itself, arriving with a clarity that reads almost green against the fading citrus. Olive and wine lees follow, adding a fermented, slightly bitter quality that shifts the scent from fresh to atmospheric. The boozy warmth of gin meets jasmine in the heart, and this is where the fragrance earns its name. The base doesn't arrive all at once. Leather emerges, dry and quiet, followed by Iso E Super and ambroxan creating a clean, smooth foundation that extends the drydown well into the evening.
Cultural impact
The rise of the craft cocktail movement in the 2010s created a generation of consumers who understood flavor complexity and the logic of bitter-floral pairings. BLNDRGRPHY translates the visual language and methodology of artisanal bartending into fragrance form. Each release in the collection takes its name and structure from a classic or contemporary cocktail, approaching the drink not as a literal scent to recreate but as a framework for composition. Jasmine carries a soft, heady weight that sits in tension with the botanical sharpness of gin, and this unresolved quality defines the fragrance.
