The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
BLNDRGRPHY treats fragrance as liquid architecture, and Vanilla Mudslide exemplifies this philosophy. Anne-Sophie Behaghel composed the fragrance around the idea that dessert and spirit could share a single identity. The original mudslide cocktail combines vodka, Kahlua, Baileys Irish Cream, and cream into a rich, indulgent blend. Translating this into olfactory form required capturing both the alcoholic bite and the creamy sweetness without either overwhelming the other. The challenge was clear: how do you capture the warmth of a dessert cocktail in a way that feels intentional rather than literal?
The note selection reflects a deliberate balance between indulgence and wearability. Bitter almond and coconut milk open the experience with a creamy richness that feels immediately inviting. Coffee and vanilla form the core, representing the two most recognizable elements of the mudslide cocktail. Davana was chosen to add complexity, its herbal, slightly fruity quality grounding the sweetness. The drydown pivots toward ambroxan and white musk, ensuring the fragrance remains sophisticated rather than purely dessert-like. This structure allows Vanilla Mudslide to function as both a statement piece and a daily wear option.
The evolution
The opening arrives with bitter almond and butter, the nuttiness immediately softened by coconut milk's creamy tropical note. This creates an immediate sense of richness, like the first sip of a cold, thick cocktail. Within minutes, coffee emerges as the dominant heart note, dark and roasted, intertwined with vanilla sweetness that amplifies the dessert quality. Almond and cocoa build beneath, adding layers of bitter and sweet that deepen the composition. Davana introduces a subtle herbal quality that prevents the heart from becoming purely sugary. As the fragrance moves into the drydown, ambroxan and vodka provide a crisp lift, pulling the composition away from pure gourmand territory. Iso E Super and white musk create a clean, skin-close finish that lingers for hours without announcing itself.
Cultural impact
Vanilla Mudslide has emerged as one of the house's most discussed releases since its 2024 launch. Community ratings show strong approval for scent quality and longevity, positioning this as a standout in the growing category of honest, unapologetic gourmand fragrances that resonate with modern enthusiasts.
