Why it exists.
The beginning
My Way arrived in 2020 from Giorgio Armani, composed by Carlos Benaïm alongside Bruno Jovanovic. The brief was a white floral that could travel: bright enough to wear at brunch, warm enough to carry into dinner. The pair built it around a tension between citrus sparkle and creamy indolic florals, anchored by a vanilla-cedar base that keeps the sweetness from tipping into sugar. It's a composition designed for the woman who moves through her day without changing her scent, one fragrance that flexes across settings without losing its center.
What makes the pyramid interesting is the source material running through it. The orange blossom is documented as Egyptian-grown, a regional tag that hints at a particular extraction tradition rather than a generic Mediterranean bloom. The jasmine listed is Jasminum auriculatum, a species known for a softer, almost fruity sweetness that sits apart from the more indolic jasmine varieties, lending the heart a gentler curve. The Indian tuberose, listed alongside it, carries that creamy density prized in white-floral perfumery, reading more like warm skin than a bridal bouquet.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes belong to the Calabrian bergamot, sharp and clean with a faint bitter edge that cuts cleanly against the skin. The Egyptian orange blossom weaves in underneath, not functioning as a standard top note but instead acting as a bridge, its honey-green warmth softening the citrus into something fuller and rounder. Around the 30-minute mark the florals take over: tuberose arrives creamy and almost fruity, while the Indian jasmine layered beside it adds a soft, banana-skin sweetness rather than the sharper indolic character of grandiflorum. The blend reads like sun-warmed skin rather than a department store counter, intimate and close rather than projected outward. By hour two the vanilla starts to surface, Bourbon vanilla in character, deep and slightly resinous, but the cedarwood keeps the sweetness from tipping fully into gourmand territory.
Cultural impact
My Way picked up the Fragrance of the Year award in the women's prestige category from the Fragrance Foundation in 2021, an early marker of its reach. The composition is frequently compared to Givenchy L'Interdit among highly similar releases, sharing that accessible white-floral territory where tuberose and vanilla take center stage. Wearers tend to describe it as the scent of someone approachable, put-together, not trying too hard, a floral people reach for when they want to smell nice without making a heavy statement about it.
