The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Tiziana Terenzi was founded in Cattolica in 1968 as an artisan candle workshop, now run by siblings Tiziana and Paolo. The Luna Star collection draws on celestial naming and the quiet authority of fixed stars. Sirrah, named after one such star, represents the brand's most concentrated artistic vision. Paolo Terenzi designed this Extrait as an abstract concept rather than a literal one, capturing the quality of light that persists stubbornly in the night sky despite its modest brightness.
The ingredients here do not merely layer on top of each other. The quince and bell pepper in the opening create tension that the osmanthus resolves in the heart, and the leather acts as a bridge between floral warmth and woody foundation. This is a fragrance that tells a story across phases rather than simply assembling notes. The oxygen note functions as a compositional device, keeping the heart from becoming dense by introducing airy freshness that makes the animalic ambergris and the warm osmanthus more legible.
The evolution
Sirrah opens with quince and bell pepper creating a sharp, translucent tartness that surprises. Passion fruit and saffron warm the blend immediately, making the first minutes inviting despite the unusual ingredients. The heart brings osmanthus as a warm apricot-like floral note that harmonizes with the leather, with ambergris and cardamom adding elegance. The drydown centers on white musk and birch, where leather becomes softer and more refined, settling into a mineral-woody character that lets patchouli and sandalwood shine over many hours.
Cultural impact
Sirrah occupies a specific niche within the Luna Star collection: the tropical statement piece. Among Tiziana Terenzi's broader catalog, which leans toward mineral, smoky, and resinous compositions, this one stands apart as explicitly fruity and spiced, a fragrance that makes no claims to restraint. Wearers gravitate to it precisely for the announcement it makes. The green bell pepper opening has generated divided opinion, some find it jarring, others consider it the fragrance's most memorable quality. The enormous sillage and longevity are consistent points of praise, with the value-for-money rating reflecting the premium price rather than any perceived weakness in performance.
