Starfall Amber arrived in 2026 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, composed by house perfumer Mahsam Raza. It's an oriental floral extrait de parfum that takes the classic spiced-amber structure and tilts it toward something more luminous. The brief, if there was one written down, seems clear: keep the warmth, lose the heaviness. Let the iris and florals carry the composition rather than playing second fiddle to the resins. The name suggests falling light, a glow rather than a blaze, and the composition follows that cue. It's amber, yes, but the kind that catches on silk rather than smolders in a fireplace.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the unusual density of its heart. A wide roster of materials share that middle phase, with Nepalese nard sitting alongside the more familiar iris and orange blossom. The nard brings an earthy, almost animalic depth that grounds what could otherwise float away on all that floral sweetness. Pair it with the pink pepper's clean heat and the patchouli's quiet earthiness, and you get a heart that smells older than its release suggests. It's a deliberate layering that rewards attention.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are the brightest the fragrance will ever be. Bergamot, lemon, and lavender arrive in a clean aromatic wash, the kind of opening that smells like stepping into sunlight.
