The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Frosted Plum Shimmer Mist arrived in 2015 as part of The Body Shop's seasonal shimmer mist line, a limited-edition body fragrance built around a fruit-and-floral composition. The formula is enriched with plum extract sourced from Turkey, lending the scent a specific regional anchor. Rather than a traditional fine fragrance, this is a shimmer mist: a lighter format designed for casual, repeated wear. The plum sorbet note anchors the fruity character, while peony and a base of comforting musk give the composition its floral-soft structure. Pink grapefruit and raspberry brighten the opening with a tart, juicy lift, and the heart softens through apricot blossom and magnolia into something more rounded and powdery at the edges.
What makes this composition interesting is its use of plum sorbet rather than a straight fruit accord. Sorbet in perfumery reads as colder, more crystalline than a ripe-fruit interpretation, which keeps the sweetness from sliding into syrup. The pairing with pink grapefruit and raspberry at the top adds a tart edge, then the heart of apricot blossom, magnolia, and pink peony softens the fruit into something more floral and rounded.
The evolution
The opening belongs to fruit. Pink grapefruit comes through sharp and cold, almost citrus-clean, then the plum sorbet rolls in, sweeter but still chilled, with raspberry threading through to keep it from going flat. There's a frosted quality here, as if the whole top were pulled from a freezer. As the citrus thins, the florals take over. Apricot blossom arrives soft and slightly powdery, magnolia adds a creamy fullness, and pink peony brings a clean, almost laundry-fresh sweetness. This is the most wearable phase, the moment the mist feels like skin rather than spray. The florals don't linger long, as user reviews note the body spray format tends toward shorter longevity. What stays is the base: a quiet blend of cashmere wood and white amber over a sheer musk that reads warm and slightly skin-like, like the scent memory left on a sweater at the end of the day.
Cultural impact
Frosted Plum Shimmer Mist captures a specific moment when fruity body mists became a daily staple rather than a seasonal treat. Its blend of pink grapefruit, plum sorbet, and raspberry reflects a wider appetite for juicy, food-inspired scents that feel playful and unpretentious. The plum note in particular has become a recurring favourite in body care, prized for its balance of sweetness and tartness that works across seasons. Plum sorbet as a perfumery concept adds a cooler, more crystalline edge to the fruit, distinguishing it from riper, jammy interpretations.
