The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Superz Budapest, founded in Hungary in 2021, operates at the intersection of Turkish perfume-oil tradition and Central-European restraint. When the house partnered with Ferencvárosi Torna Club, Hungary's most decorated football institution, the brief was unambiguous: bottle devotion. Perfumer Hüseyin Erdoğmuş was tasked with translating fanatical loyalty into scent, and he reached for raw, natural materials that mirror the club's roots in earth and grit.
Erdoğmuş chose green notes, oakmoss, and pine for the opening because they reflect authenticity and raw nature, qualities that resonate with the club's heritage. The aquatic-chamomile pairing in the heart represents calm intensity, the stillness before the storm of a match. The amber, earthy, and musk drydown grounds everything in warmth and longevity, while the rose adds a nod to refinement. Together, these materials form a fragrance that speaks of roots, loyalty, and the quiet moments of beauty found in passionate communities.
The evolution
1899 begins as an olfactory immersion into a pine forest, where green notes and oakmoss deliver immediate freshness with an almost tactile forest-floor character. The pine note acts as a spine, sharp and persistent. As the scent warms on skin, the heart opens into something unexpectedly serene, with aquatic notes introducing a cool, misty quality that mingles with the calming, tea-like presence of chamomile. Lavender bridges the transition, lending a clean herbal finish to the mid-phase. By the time the drydown arrives, the scent has traveled from forest to waterfront to hearth, settling into amber warmth enriched by earthy notes and a soft musk base. The rose in the base is restrained, almost whispered, providing just enough floral grace to keep the composition from feeling rugged.
Cultural impact
Since its 2024 debut, 1899 has become a badge for Ferencvárosi Torna Club supporters, who cite its pine vigor as a rallying scent on match days. Collectors note its strong sillage and longevity set it apart in the green‑fresh niche, often comparing it to other sport‑inspired releases from European houses.
