The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The C-Thru line marked a shift for Sarantis, away from the mood-matching playfulness of the original B.U. bottles and toward something more atmospheric. Where the earlier releases asked wearers to choose a scent for how they felt, C-Thru invited them to choose a scent for the light around them. Golden Touch arrived in 2011 with a single intention: to bottle the hour when afternoon starts softening into evening. Not sunrise, not noon, that specific moment when sunlight turns amber and everything feels closer, warmer, more present. The fruit-floral-chypre structure reflects that duality. Bright opening notes for the energy of the day, a warm heart that holds as the light changes, and a woody base that grounds it all the way to dusk.
What makes Golden Touch structurally interesting is how it handles the chypre form. The classic chypre structure, citrus over patchouli, is here, but modernised with fruity sweetness and powdery florals that soften the traditional sharpness. The blackcurrant in the top is doing real work: it adds a tart, slightly bitter cassis note that keeps the citrus from feeling like a generic fresh scent. Without it, this would smell like a pleasant daytime fragrance and little else.
The evolution
The opening is immediate. Blood orange arrives first, bright, sharp, almost juicy enough to see, followed quickly by bergamot and blackcurrant. That cassis note is the tell. It adds a tartness that stops the citrus from smelling like a generic fresh scent. This phase lasts maybe twenty minutes before the peach and jasmine emerge. The heart opens warm and creamy. Peach and jasmine blend together seamlessly, jasmine keeping it graceful, peach keeping it soft, and plum underneath adding a darker fruit note that stops it from reading as sweet. There's a faint green quality here, like stems, that keeps the floral-fruity combination from smelling like dessert. The drydown belongs to the woods. Sandalwood and cedar wrap around everything with a smooth, creamy warmth. Patchouli arrives late, not loud, just present, adding an earthy depth that keeps the sweetness honest. Musk appears as a whisper, the final layer that makes the scent feel like a second skin rather than a statement. This phase lasts the longest: 3-4 hours on most skin types, intimate and close.
Cultural impact
Sarantis built its identity on accessible, everyday self-expression, fragrances that match your mood rather than your status. C-Thru Golden Touch is the embodiment of that positioning: warm, confident, and unapologetically sweet without being shouty. It's the kind of fragrance that doesn't need to prove itself. The 6-8 hour longevity makes it a reliable daily wear, and the moderate sillage means it leaves a quiet impression rather than filling a room.
