The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Alberto Morillas designed Angelic Pink in 2004 as a study in contrast, the name promised sweetness, but Morillas gave it structure. Five bright citrus notes open the composition, a deliberate abundance that makes the fruit feel effervescent rather than syrupy. The challenge was holding that brightness through the heart without losing the florals to synthetic excess. Morillas reached for lilac and freesia, flowers often relegated to background roles, and let them lead instead.
Six heart notes might suggest chaos, but the structure reveals intention. Peach acts as a bridge between the tart berries and the white florals, adding body without weight. Lily brings a green undertone that prevents the heart from becoming too sweet. The base, cedar, amber, musk, is deliberately sparse. Morillas wasn't interested in a fragrance that announces itself for eight hours. He wanted one that stays close to the skin, present without demanding attention.
The evolution
The opening arrives fast, lime and mandarin hit within seconds, sharp enough to cut through morning grogginess. Blackcurrant joins shortly after, adding a tart berry quality that lingers through the heart phase. This transition is the fragrance's most interesting moment: the citrus doesn't disappear so much as it dissolves into the florals, becoming part of the background rather than leaving it entirely. The heart offers freesia and jasmine doing the quiet work of making the wearer smell like they care about details. Cedar begins asserting itself as the composition progresses, pushing toward warmth. The drydown is intimate, musk and amber close to the skin, present enough to notice if someone leans in but never announcing themselves across a room. On fabric, the florals linger longest, retaining a soft, slightly sweet impression well into the next day.
Cultural impact
Angelic Pink represents a distinctive entry in the Dalí fragrance collection, offering a particular take on fruity-floral composition that sets it apart from more straightforward alternatives. While it may not have reached the widespread recognition of some other entries in the Dalí lineup, it carved out a meaningful space among those who appreciate subtlety and craft in their fragrance choices. The composition demonstrates how a skilled hand can balance competing elements, fruit and flower, brightness and warmth, presence and restraint, without allowing any single note to dominate.
