The combination of star anise with orris root is unusual territory. Anise brings that warm, almost medicinal sharpness, the kind of note that can dominate or disappear depending on what surrounds it. The evolution

The opening announces itself with star anise, sharp, aromatic, warming quickly. Cardamom arrives within seconds, softening the edges without dulling them. The warm spice builds and then the composition shifts as the orris begins to rise, bringing its powdery violet character with it. This is the hand-off, the warmth gives way to something cooler, more intimate, like the difference between speaking and whispering. The rose does not disappear so much as deepen, becoming less floral and more like the memory of a flower. Then the myrrh settles in, resinous and warm, followed by vetiver's earthy mineral quality. By hour three, you are wearing something close to the skin, warm, powdery, slightly resinous, lasting well into the evening without ever demanding attention.
