Why it exists.
The beginning
The name does a lot of the work before you even spray it. Lava suggests heat, molten terrain, something geological. Gold suggests wealth worn without apology. Put together, it's a fragrance designed to project before it charms, to fill a room before it seduces one. Warm, sweet, opulent where the original Hawas reads cooler and more aquatic. Nothing about the structure here is new: bright fruit on top, leather and oud in the middle, caramel and amber underneath. What Lava Gold attempts is precision, tightening the screws on each layer so the fruit doesn't feel like a gimmick and the leather doesn't collapse into generic masculinity. The opening hits with pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, and apple, four top notes stacked to catch attention.
The pineapple-grapefruit-lemon-apple combination is doing more work than it looks. Four top notes, all bright, all sharp, but they split roles: the citrus trio cuts, the pineapple sweetens. That division keeps the opening from collapsing into flat tropical sweetness. In the heart, raspberry does something unexpected next to leather. Here it sits against saffron and oud, which forces it to stay tart, almost acidic. The leather doesn't dominate because the raspberry keeps undercutting it, which gives the middle phase a tension the composition earns through layering.
The evolution
The first minutes are almost aggressively bright. Pineapple leads, grapefruit and lemon sharpen behind it, and there's a moment where the whole thing reads like a cocktail garnish. Don't get comfortable. Soon after, raspberry arrives with the leather, and the temperature drops. Not cold, but the sweetness acquires a texture, becomes sticky rather than fresh. Saffron threads through, adding a dry, slightly bitter edge that keeps the leather honest. Eventually the fruit is gone. What's left is leather, oud, and that saffron-raspberry tension holding steady. This is the phase where the composition settles into itself, projecting without choking the room, reading warm and deliberate. The oud here is restrained, more suggestion than statement, which keeps the composition modern rather than traditional. In the later hours, the caramel and amber take over.

The fragrance carries the hallmarks of contemporary masculine Arabian perfumery: a loud, fruit-forward opening, a leather-oud heart that nods to tradition, and a sweet, resinous base designed for projection and longevity. Within that regional context, the Hawas name carries recognition, and the Lava Gold flanker amplifies the bright citrus-fruit opening with a darker, more resinous undertone.
