The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Rasasi, founded in Dubai in 1979, has spent decades weaving Arabian perfumery heritage with contemporary sensibilities, crafting scents that prioritize longevity and character over fleeting trends. La Yuqawam Ambergris Showers arrived in 2016 as the third expression of the La Yuqawam series, a line whose Arabic name means 'Irresistible.' The fragrance draws on the Middle Eastern tradition of a commanding trail, translating that heritage into a modern masculine portrait with violet leaf, galbanum, tangerine, clary sage, mate, leather, styrax, vetiver, and iris at its core.
Rasasi built La Yuqawam Ambergris Showers around a contrast between bright aromatic openings and dark, enveloping bases. The violet leaf and galbanum give the top an aromatic sharpness rarely found in mass-market masculine fragrances. Clary sage and mate form the heart, a pairing more common in niche perfumery than in commercial releases. The leather, styrax, vetiver, and iris base brings warmth and complexity, creating a trail that evolves meaningfully over hours.
The evolution
The fragrance opens with a statement: sharp green-violet leaf and galbanum create an almost medicinal intensity, quickly softened by a burst of tangerine citrus. As the top notes recede, clary sage appears, its herbal, slightly camphorated quality taking center stage alongside mate's smoky, tea-like presence. The progression feels like moving from a bright courtyard into a shaded interior. The drydown reveals its true character as leather emerges, warm and substantial, layered with styrax's balsamic depth. Vetiver and iris linger last, their earthy, powdery finish extending the scent well into the evening.
Cultural impact
Since its 2016 debut, Ambergris Showers has become a quiet favorite among fans of green‑leather compositions, often mentioned alongside Memo’s Irish Leather and Lattafa’s Ana Abiyedh Leather. Wearers describe it as the scent of a confident traveler who steps out of a rain‑slicked alley into a polished lounge, a blend that resonates with both Middle Eastern connoisseurs and Western niche enthusiasts.
