The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The To Be Goodvibes collection arrived in 2021 as a fragrance that wears optimism like a colour, not a concept. Police had built scents around urban edge and rebellion, confidence that doesn't explain itself. Goodvibes brings something different. Still bold, still Italian, but the energy shifts toward joy. Electric blue, carefree-living, transmit your positive energy, those were the guiding ideas. The perfumer translated that feeling into something you can actually smell.
What makes the note structure work is the vanilla execution. Sweet orange and grapefruit open bright and fizzy, aquatic notes add that cool-water freshness, and black pepper keeps the citrus honest. The heart, heliotrope, pear, peony, could easily go powdery and old-fashioned. It doesn't, because the pear keeps it juicy and the peony stays delicate rather than blowsy. The base is where Police earns its street-cred: patchouli grounded in the drydown, Ambramone™ adding a synthetic amber warmth that extends the wear without going heavy. The result is sweet without being sugary, fresh without being fleeting.
The evolution
The opening hits like a splash of cold water, sweet orange and grapefruit, bright and fizzy, almost effervescent. The black pepper sits underneath, a quiet heat that keeps the citrus from feeling like a vitamin drink. Then the aquatic notes take over, smoothing everything into something cooler, almost cool-water crisp. The heart arrives quietly: peony first, delicate and slightly sweet, then heliotrope adding its powdery warmth, pear giving it a fruity roundness that stops the florals from going too delicate. The drydown is where this fragrance settles into its truest expression. The vanilla doesn't go syrupy, it stays clean, almost airy, and that quality keeps it from becoming cloying. Patchouli enters late but arrives with intention, adding that earthy depth that stops the sweetness from floating away.
Cultural impact
To Be Goodvibes For Her sits in that rare space where sweet and aquatic actually coexist without one drowning the other. The vanilla execution is the real differentiator, clean and warm rather than syrupy, which keeps it from sliding into generic territory. It's the kind of fragrance that works best in warmer months, when the aquatic freshness can breathe and the sweetness doesn't feel heavy. Those who appreciate accessible yet distinctive scents tend to find it compelling.
