The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Pigmentarium, founded in Prague in 2018, treats scent as colour, and Erotikon lives in the deep burgundy end of the spectrum. Jakub F translated the tension of the 1929 Czech silent film into scent, creating a fragrance that mirrors the film's unapologetic celebration of desire. The result is a perfume that wears its intentions openly, much like the cinematic work that inspired it. Pigmentarium's minimalist bottles and colour-first philosophy give Erotikon a visual identity that matches its bold olfactory character.
The notes in Erotikon were chosen to echo the film's boldness. The chocolate and vanilla represent indulgence, the ginger and pink pepper add the necessary heat, and the base of patchouli, sandalwood, amber, and musk grounds the sweetness in something earthy and sensual. Pigmentarium's approach pairs each fragrance with a colour, and Erotikon's hue is unmistakable: a deep, warm amber that speaks of candlelight and intimacy. The fragrance does not ask to be understood; it simply demands to be experienced.
The evolution
Erotikon begins its life with the bittersweet warmth of chocolate, quickly joined by the sharp, spiced kick of ginger and the delicate heat of pink pepper. This opening is attention-grabbing, a statement of intent that does not apologize for its presence. As the top notes soften, the vanilla and tonka bean heart emerges, wrapping the wearer in a warm, sweet embrace that feels both comforting and suggestive. The fragrance then settles into a deep drydown where patchouli, sandalwood, amber, and musk create a layered base that feels Intimate and enduring, like the lingering effect of a charged glance.
Cultural impact
Since its 2019 launch, Erotikon has been highlighted in Elle and Vogue for daringly marrying gourmand chocolate with a spicy, cinematic edge. Wearers often describe it as the scent of a midnight film scene, sweet, provocative, and lingering. Its balanced sweet‑spice profile has sparked conversation among niche enthusiasts, cementing its place as a modern, art‑inspired statement piece.
