The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Dolce & Sense Jasmin arrived in 2019 as part of Paris Elysees' Dolce & Sense collection. The house frames each release as a short sensory story, a portable memory rather than a trend piece. Jasmin leans hard into that brief. It takes the most assertive white flower in the perfumer's palette and refuses to dilute it. The almond note gives the composition its gourmand edge, threading marzipan warmth through petals that would otherwise read purely green. Pear and tangerine keep the opening bright enough to wear in daylight, their juicy lift cutting through the density that follows. The jasmine arrives with conviction, and once it settles, the fragrance wears its sweetness honestly. This is jasmine designed for someone who already knows what jasmine can do and wants more of it.
Jasmine Sambac is the heavy hitter here, not the lighter jasmine grandiflorum, and that choice dictates everything. Sambac carries indole density and an almost-fruity warmth that fills a space without effort. The honey accord amplifies that sweetness into something thicker, golden, almost edible. Orange blossom joins the white floral chorus, adding neroli's green-soap shimmer to keep the composition from collapsing into pure syrup. The Ylang-Ylang in the base deserves attention.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are deceptive. Pear and tangerine open clean and almost casual, green notes threading through like cut stems still wet from the garden. Almond arrives almost immediately, that marzipan curve bending the citrus toward something richer. By the 30-minute mark the jasmine Sambac steps fully into frame, and it brings company. Orange blossom sweetens the air, honey thickens it. The scent shifts from fresh-floral to something almost confectionery, warm and golden. From hour two onward the composition settles into its adult register. Ylang-Ylang softens the edges, vanilla smooths everything, and moss grounds the sweetness with something earthy and damp. The vanilla-moss drydown wraps the wrist in a creamy warmth, the honey lingering underneath like a memory of the opening's brightness now mellowed into something softer and more private.
Cultural impact
Dolce & Sense Jasmin sits confidently in the unapologetic white floral category. It reads loud and earns its confidence from Sambac's natural density rather than from sheer chemical volume. The almond-honey pairing gives it a gourmand edge that separates it from cleaner jasmine interpretations, pulling it toward the warmer, sweeter end of the spectrum without drifting into full oriental territory. There's a generosity to the composition that feels deliberate, a refusal to whisper when the flower itself speaks in a full voice. For wearers tired of skin scents that barely register past the collarbone, this one offers presence.
