The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
This is Oriflame stepping sideways. Neon Oud arrived in 2026 as part of the Top Scents collection, a range that leans experimental. Perfumer Andrea Montanari built it around a collision: bright fruit meeting heavy resin. The composition refuses the polite middle ground most fragrances aim for. Strawberry, oud, incense, suede, and saffron crash together in a way that feels intentional, almost architectural. There's no gentle fade-in, no coy opening. You get the full spectrum from the first spray, and the wearer decides what to do with it. It's a fragrance that expects something from you.
The unusual choice here is strawberry in a smoky oud frame. The jammy fruit hits almost immediately, then the incense rolls in behind it like a second wave. The suede middle adds a dry, slightly animal texture that keeps the fruit from reading as candy. There's rose somewhere in the architecture, but it doesn't lead. Saffron threads a dry warmth through the heart. The whole thing smells like something that shouldn't work but does. It's sweet. Not cute. And that tension between those two words is where Neon Oud lives.
The evolution
The first hour is where the strawberry fights hardest. It hits immediately, backed by mandarin's lift and a thin ribbon of incense. The brightness is almost aggressive, like fruit amplified through a speaker. Then the suede arrives, and everything tightens. The fruit stops performing and starts settling into the leather's grain. Saffron threads through, giving the heart a dry, almost metallic warmth. Rose shows up underneath, not fresh and dewy but something older, more pressed. By hour three the oud has taken the floor. It's not a heavy oud, no syrupy thickness or medicinal sharpness. It's leaner. Smokier. More transparent than you'd expect. The vanilla smooths the exit, but the patchouli underneath stays rough, keeping the base honest. On fabric, the next morning, you get ash and dried fruit and something faintly like old bookshops.
Cultural impact
Released in 2026 as part of Oriflame's Top Scents collection, Neon Oud offers a different take on oud for wearers who usually find the note too heavy or too serious. Wearers describe it as salty leather with smoky edges and occasional flashes of fruit. The strawberry note reads as bold without slipping into gimmickry, and the oud underneath provides weight without the brooding intensity that turns some people off. It draws a specific kind of fragrance wearer, someone who wants oud's presence but not its solemnity. The result is a scent that feels modern, almost neon, hence the name.
