The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Carmita Magalhães designed Forest Wind with the name itself as the concept: wind moving through trees, carrying cool air and green scent. She structured it as a chypre, but the result is something that feels like a specific place and time, not a mood board of nature. Cedar leaves lead the opening, a material that anchors the composition in its forest identity. The result is a fragrance that feels rooted and deliberate, with the green quality threading through every phase of wear.
What makes this composition unusual is the consistency of its green thread. Cedar leaves open the top and vetiver closes the base, so the green quality never fully disappears. Even the amber in the drydown feels grounded rather than sweet. Mint and ginger create the illusion of coolness, but patchouli and vetiver keep it honest. Sage and violet leaf add a slight bitter quality that prevents the whole thing from reading as pleasant or generic. It's a fragrance that respects the complexity of its source material.
The evolution
The opening arrives bright and immediate, Sicilian lemon and mint create a cool air effect before the cedar comes forward. Then sage arrives, and the composition shifts. The lemon fades, the mint settles into something softer, and the sage adds a quiet herbal bitterness that feels almost medicinal, but in a good way, like walking past a rosemary bush. Violet leaf appears in the background, giving a faint green hum without sweetness. This is where the fragrance earns its name. The drydown is where vetiver and patchouli take over, and the whole thing becomes earthier, woodier, less bright. The amber adds warmth that wasn't obvious before, and the patchouli gives it a slight dark edge.
Cultural impact
Forest Wind occupies a specific niche within O Boticário's catalogue, the green chypre that takes itself seriously. The cedar-forward opening signals a departure from safe, pleasant territory. It offers something distinctive without the niche price tag, for those who want a composition that asks something of the wearer and rewards attention.
