The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Rose Green Tea arrived in 2014 as part of Novae Plus's spring collection, a trio of fragrances designed to capture the season through scent rather than story. The brief was simple: translate picturesque landscapes and the awakening of nature into something wearable. The collection replaced the previous year's fairy-tale motifs with romantic florals, and Rose Green Tea was one of three spring editions released under that direction. Its mint green flacon, printed with red flowers and accented with a crystal necklace detail, kept the playful visual language the house is recognized for.
The composition leans into a floral aquatic category, but the execution here is more fruit-forward than most interpretations of that family. Watermelon and pineapple handle the role typically played by sharper citrus openings, lending a candied sweetness that doesn't shout. Violet leaf adds the green backbone that keeps the fruit from reading as dessert, lending an almost crunchy stem quality that cuts through the syrup. The heart pairs rose and jasmine with pear and lily of the valley, a familiar white-floral quartet given lift by the juicier fruits beneath.
The evolution
The first twenty minutes are almost entirely fruit. Watermelon leads, sweet and dewy, with pineapple pulsing underneath and green apple sharpening the edges. Violet leaf arrives fast, cutting through the sugar with a cool, slightly metallic green that keeps the opening from going cloying. Around the thirty-minute mark, the florals begin to surface, jasmine and rose pushing past the lily of the valley and pear to claim the middle. The composition shifts from candied to creamy, the rose reading less like a flower and more like rosewater poured over fruit. By the two-hour mark, the vanilla and peach take over, and the musk starts to settle into skin. The drydown is warm and soft, more peachy than floral, with a quiet sweetness that lingers close to the body for four to six hours total. The next morning, what's left is a faint vanilla-peach whisper on fabric.
Cultural impact
Rose Green Tea reads as a floral-aquatic aimed at casual everyday rotation, the kind of scent for an afternoon coffee or a quick errand rather than a formal occasion. Its watermelon-pineapple opening gives it a juicy, immediately readable character, while the violet leaf lends a fresher, almost stem-crushed note that keeps the sweetness in check. For younger wearers or anyone building a first fragrance wardrobe, it offers a recognizable shape without demanding much commitment. The watermelon feels like the first thing anyone nearby will catch, a bright candied fruit note that announces itself without aggression.
