The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Anunsith Wongkornvanich built Stilled Time around a specific kind of remembering: sharing oolong tea with grandparents, time stretching until the cup went cold and nobody cared. The fragrance, part of NOMR's Artifact of Memory collection released in 2025, translates that suspended moment into scent. Not a recreation. A feeling you forgot you had. NOMR sees scent as a language of life, a way of holding fragments of memory, feeling, and time, and Stilled Time lives inside that idea without ceremony. The corn-and-butter opening arrives almost as a joke, playful and warm, before the composition quietly pivots into tea, stone fruit, and the kind of dry, leafy greens that settle into skin rather than sit on top of it.
The opening is where Stilled Time earns its reputation: sweet corn and butter aren't common pyramid material, and they shouldn't work this well. The butter adds a lactonic richness, the corn a starchy sweetness, and clary sage cuts through both with an herbal edge that keeps things from veering gourmand. From there, oolong tea anchors the heart, peach softens it, jasmine gives it lift. The base brings a dry, green character through mate and vetiver, warmth and smoothness from sandalwood and musk, and a seaweed note that adds a quiet mineral flicker.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately, almost startling. Corn, butter, steam, the clary sage holding it all upright. It smells less like perfume and more like a kitchen in the best possible way, warm and edible and slightly absurd. The gourmand edge recedes as oolong takes over, carrying peach and jasmine with it. This is the meditation phase: warm, slightly tannic, faintly floral. As the hours pass the base starts to surface, mate and vetiver drying things out, sandalwood adding a creamy backbone, musk smoothing every transition. The seaweed stays subtle but present, a cool mineral thread that keeps the whole composition from going too soft. Eventually it becomes a close-skin scent, warm and woody with just a trace of that initial sweetness. The mate and sandalwood linger longest, faint and comforting.
Cultural impact
Stilled Time arrives at a moment when niche fragrance is crowded with compositions chasing comfort and nostalgia, and it stakes its claim on a specific corner of that conversation. The corn-and-butter accord is genuinely unusual, the kind of opening that makes someone lean in and ask what they're smelling. The oolong-mate base gives the composition actual architecture, preventing it from collapsing into pure gourmand sweetness. The seaweed note threading through the base is quietly subversive, adding a cool mineral edge that keeps the whole thing honest. It doesn't shout.
