The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sparkling Rosé arrived in 2023 as part of Mykonos' Refined Collection, the Indonesian house's take on floral perfumery for women. The inspiration reads on the label: a fine rose wine, effervescent and celebratory, rendered in scent. The brand drew on Cleopatra's legendary damask rose, the kind of bloom associated with seduction and ceremony, and reimagined it through a modern, fizzy lens. Mykonos positioned this as a contemporary floral, not a tribute to classical perfumery but a remix of it.
Two roses in one bottle is an unusual move. The Damask rose in the opening brings that dense, almost jammy, old-rose character, the one perfumers reach for when they want something with weight. The May rose in the heart is the opposite: lighter, dewy, with a green edge that reads more like a garden after rain than a florist's counter. Stacking them gives Sparkling Rosé a dimension most single-rose compositions miss. The geranium in the top keeps the whole thing from sliding into pure sweetness, adding a slightly herbal, almost minty lift that holds the florals in check.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are all sparkle. Geranium and orange cut through the Damask rose, giving it a bright, almost cocktail-like quality. The aldehydic accord, if present in the formula, adds that effervescent snap the name promises. Then the plum arrives, and the composition shifts from a toast to a dessert course. The May rose takes over from its heavier Damask sibling, and the red berries thread through with a tart, almost wine-like sweetness. Sandalwood in the heart softens everything. The drydown settles into guaiac wood and patchouli, both quiet, both woody in a warm rather than sharp way. The amber and musk close the deal, leaving a creamy, slightly powdery base that lingers close to skin. It doesn't project aggressively in the final hours. It just stays pleasant, like a memory of something that was lovely.
Cultural impact
Sparkling Rosé fits squarely within the affordable floral category that exploded on TikTok, the kind of composition that lets someone build a fragrance wardrobe without spending three figures. The rose-and-ozonic accord profile places it alongside modern, accessible florals designed for daily wear rather than special occasion drama. For a house that positions itself as anti-performative luxury, this is the scent that does the talking for people who don't want their fragrance to talk too loudly.
