The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Down to Earth came from a simple question: what does grounded actually smell like? The answer turned out to be fig, not as a single isolated note but as a full expression of the plant itself. Fig pairs with matcha and incense, creating a fragrance that moves from green freshness through smoky depth. Vetiver provides an earthy foundation that grounds every layer of the composition. The combination brings together fig, matcha, bergamot, incense, and cinnamon, each note supporting the others to create something that feels truly rooted and alive.
The real interest sits in the heart. Cashmere wood and Figolide™ create a soft, almost creamy middle layer that contrasts with the sharp green opening, it's the pause between rain and sun. Orcanox™ adds a modern woody-amber lift that keeps the composition from feeling retro or heavy. The result is a fragrance that sounds earthy but reads contemporary. The milk note doesn't sweeten, it softens, rounds, makes the fig feel like skin-warmth rather than novelty.
The evolution
The opening hits green first. Fig leaf, bitter matcha, and bergamot flicker briefly before the incense smoke takes over. Not church incense, more like embers after rainfall. Cinnamon waits in the background, never pushing forward, adding warmth to a composition that could easily feel cold. The heart develops within the hour. Cashmere wood arrives soft, almost powdery, while orange adds a brief flash of brightness before Figolide settles into something creamier and more intimate. The fig note shifts here, still present but warmer, more forgiving. The base is where Down to Earth earns its name. Vetiver and cedar lock into something mineral and damp. Santamanol adds body without sweetness, giving weight to the final phase. Sandalwood in the drydown reads as wood without warmth, the smell of a forest floor after a heavy storm.
Cultural impact
Since its 2024 debut, Down to Earth has found an audience among those seeking something different from mainstream fragrance. The composition sits comfortably alongside indie and niche releases that prioritize atmosphere over broad appeal, fragrances that smell like places rather than promises. This scent offers interesting materials in an accessible way, avoiding gatekeeping in favor of genuine exploration.
