The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Rouge arrived in 2023 as part of the Mykonos x Sapeyeeee collaboration, a partnership with Indonesian beauty creator Revania Shabika Amany Kitzing, known to her community as Sapeyeeee. The composition borrows from a vocabulary of powdery cosmetics and soft florals, the kind of scent that smells like borrowed lipstick and a velvet blazer left over a chair. Green pear and lemon blossom open the fragrance with a bright, fruit-forward lift, giving way to a heart of orris root, violet, lily of the valley, and ambrette that reads as cosmetic rather than botanical. Orcanox anchors the base, lending a modern musk that grounds the composition in warmth without overwhelming the quieter notes above.
Orcanox, the modern musk anchor in the base, works alongside the other ingredients to give Rouge its grounded finish. Paired with orris root in the heart, it creates a powdery backbone that reads as cosmetic rather than floral, more compact on the dresser than in the garden. Ambrette weaves through the composition, offering a warmth that keeps the powder from collapsing into something flat, while violet contributes a cool shimmer that defines the lipstick-leaning character.
The evolution
Rouge unfolds in distinct stages, each one shifting the composition's center of gravity. The opening belongs to green pear and lemon blossom, bright and almost fizzy, the kind of fruit-forward introduction that makes you lean your wrist closer to your nose. The fruit doesn't overstay, retreating as the heart notes assemble into a soft, powdery arrangement. Orris root and violet take the lead alongside lily of the valley and ambrette, settling into the kind of powder that reads cosmetic rather than botanical. Rouge smells like a compact opening on a vanity table, floral-adjacent but firmly in makeup territory. As the fragrance wears, the powder deepens, and the orris and violet come forward, steering the composition into lipstick-scent territory where Rouge feels most at home. Eventually, the base emerges, with Orcanox grounding everything into a warm, skin-like drydown.
Cultural impact
Rouge emerged from the Mykonos x Sapeyeeee collaboration, a partnership that brought together Mykonos's fragrance sensibility with Indonesian beauty creator Revania Shabika Amany Kitzing, known to her community as Sapeyeeee. The collaboration produced a composition rooted in powdery florals, modern musks, and the soft intimacy of cosmetic-adjacent scent. Rouge leans into nostalgic territory, drawing on the visual and sensory language of vintage lipstick and compact powder rather than tropical or aquatic references. The result is a fragrance that feels personal, built for closeness and quiet wear rather than broad projection.
