The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Invade is a 2025 collaboration between Mykonos and Indonesian e-athlete SetiawanAde. The result is a woody aromatic that opens loud and confident, then settles into something you can actually wear past the first impression. The pineapple-grapefruit top reads extroverted and almost candied, the kind of opening that walks into a room before you do. As the hours pass, cedarwood, vetiver, sandalwood, and patchouli settle into a dry, earthy base that grounds the composition without smothering it. The fruit doesn't disappear so much as it folds into the woods, leaving a trace of sweetness wrapped in warm timber. It is unisex by design, the bright opening and the darker base both pulling weight depending on who's wearing it. What Invade does best is hold its contrast.
What's distinct here is the tension between the bright, almost playful opening and the darker, more resinous base. Pineapple and grapefruit lead the top, paired with bergamot for that bitter-citric lift, and the combination reads louder than a typical fresh aromatic opening. Pairing those juicy fruits with Taif rose and sage in the heart creates an unexpected turn, something floral and herbal wedged between candied fruit and dry wood. Sage brings a green, slightly bitter edge, while the Taif rose adds a soft, almost waxy sweetness that keeps the composition from collapsing into pure woods.
The evolution
The first stretch is a burst of pineapple, grapefruit, and bergamot, sharp, almost candied, with a citric edge that reads as confident and extroverted. It announces itself. The fruit eventually loosens its grip, and sage and violet leaf push forward, bringing a green, slightly bitter, cooling quality, like crushed leaves underfoot on a warm afternoon. Taif rose appears somewhere underneath, adding a soft, almost waxy sweetness that keeps things from going too austere. Once the woods take over, cedarwood leads, dry and clean, with vetiver adding the earthier, smoky undertone. Sandalwood rounds it out with a creamy warmth, and patchouli sits at the very bottom, deep and a little dirty, grounding everything.
Cultural impact
Invade has drawn comparisons in community notes to Stronger With You by Emporio Armani, a designer woody aromatic that occupies a similar tonal space. The collaboration with Indonesian e-athlete SetiawanAde places the fragrance in conversation with gaming and esports-adjacent audiences, a corner of the fragrance internet that gets comparatively little attention from traditional houses. That overlap matters.
