Museum IV arrived in 2019 as the fourth entry in Museum Parfums' numbered catalogue, a series the house treats less like a product line and more like a permanent exhibition. The brand's curatorial logic assigns each release a catalog position rather than a name drawn from ingredients or emotion, placing this composition within an ongoing archive. That framing matters here. Museum IV reads as deliberate curation, an exhibit rather than an impulse launch. The Roman numeral signals placement, not promise. On skin, the composition opens with a cool snap of violet and pepper, the green bite folding into something softer as the aldehydes lift the whole structure. There's a soapy brightness in the top that catches light, almost crystalline, before the florals settle into place.
What sets this entry apart is the interplay between its floral heart and its powdery-musky skeleton. The strawberry and ylang-ylang pairing is unusual in a woody-musk context. Most compositions in that register lean dark or resinous. Here, those two notes introduce a sweetness that doesn't behave like fruit, settling into something closer to dried petals than jam. The choice to anchor the base with sandalwood and white musk alongside oakmoss and pink pepper keeps the sweetness in check. The evolution
