The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Furfante arrived in 2025 as part of Montenapoleone Profumi Milano's fragrance collection. Its composition follows a bold, immediate brief. Calabrian bergamot, grapefruit and pink pepper hit first, loud and direct, with the citrus giving way to the pepper's dry heat. Then the heart slows the pace: wild lavender adds an aromatic lift, green fig brings a bright, fleshy quality, and blond tobacco lends weight. No single note asks for attention quietly. The whole thing reads like a captured moment of someone walking through a city at their own pace, unbothered by who watches. The accord list says it plainly: woody, citrus, spicy, tobacco, leather, amber. Nothing in Furfante is a whisper, but everything in it is deliberate.
The interesting part is the friction. Citrus and pepper meet tobacco and leather, a pairing that could go wrong in several ways. Here, green fig adds a distinctly fruity sweetness, while lavender gives the aromatic heart a cool, herbal character. Haitian vetiver supplies a dry, smoky root underneath, and amber contributes a rounded warmth beneath the sharper opening notes. What's distinctive here isn't any single material. It's the order. Bright first, herbaceous and fruitlike next, then tobacco and leather settling into wood and amber.
The evolution
Furfante opens with clear velocity. Bergamot and grapefruit cut through the air, while pink pepper adds a prick of heat and an immediate sense of tension. Lavender enters with a herbal aromatic quality, and green fig introduces a soft, almost milky green note. As the citrus recedes, the fragrance gains depth without losing its brightness. Tobacco arrives next, changing the temperature of the composition. It turns warmer, a little drier, less sparkling, like sun moving off a window. The later accord settles around vetiver and cedar, which establish a woody backbone, while leather moves through the composition with the rounded texture of worn hide. Amber glows underneath everything. What surprises people is how woody the drydown becomes. The composition leaves room for several materials to register at once: dry root, polished wood, supple leather and warm amber.
Cultural impact
Furfante brings an assured point of view to the fragrance landscape. Its composition pairs citrus and pink pepper with lavender, green fig, tobacco and leather, creating a scent that refuses to stay within a single aromatic register. The opening feels lively and lucid, with bergamot and grapefruit joined by pepper's dry heat. Lavender introduces an herbal quality, while green fig adds a soft fruitiness. Tobacco shifts the mood toward something warmer and drier, leading into vetiver, cedar, leather and amber.
