Why it exists.
The beginning
Alberto Morillas composed Chiffre Royal for Mizensir, a fragrance shaped around the quiet tension of a private salon where cards fall and composure holds even as stakes climb. The composition opens with bergamot and black pepper, a sharp, almost metallic brightness cut by pepper's dry sting. Damask rose follows, not the romantic garden variety but something cooler, slightly bitter, restrained, like roses held in a cold room rather than left to open in sun. Then the base reveals itself in its own time: oud and incense performing the slow, deliberate unhurried work that only careful material handling can deliver.
The Cypriol, Oud Assafi™ and Patchouli are thread-woven through Tree Moss and Damask rose, so the darkness never becomes a statement. It becomes texture. The Cypriol brings a warm, earthy smoke, vetiver-adjacent in its dryness, that doesn't announce itself so much as accumulate in the background. Patchouli deepens the register further, while Oud Assafi™ reads here as polished wood rather than animal hide, stripped of the feral edge so many oud compositions trade on.

On skin, Chiffre Royal opens with a cold flash. Bergamot cuts first, bright, almost metallic, then immediately answered by black pepper's dry sting. The fragrance extends the house's oud lineage but reads lighter and more architectural than its peers, a composition that prizes structure over density.
