Why it exists.
The beginning
Alexandrite arrived in 2020 from Sébastien Martin, a perfumer whose work for Mirra carries a sense of curation and intention. The gemstone reference in the name carries weight on its own: alexandrite famously shifts color depending on the light, green in daylight, reddish under lamplight. That optical trick becomes a useful analogy, since the composition takes a bright, almost pharmaceutical opening and steers it toward warmth without ever fully tipping over. The eucalyptus and lemon at the start read clean and slightly medicinal, like a cold room in a warm building, the kind of clarity that feels deliberate rather than accidental. As the top notes recede, jasmine and orange blossom arrive with a softness that doesn't announce itself so much as accumulate.
The composition works a sharp atmospheric contrast into a tightly held structure. Eucalyptus and lemon open with something almost pharmaceutical, cold and clarifying, while black pepper hums underneath them at a lower register. The top notes stay brief enough that the florals don't have to compete with anything genuinely sharp, and that restraint gives the whole opening its tension. The middle is where the real thinking sits. Apple with cedar is an unusual pairing in white floral contexts, and the pairing does a lot of quiet work.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes belong to the cold. Eucalyptus hits first, sharp and almost mentholated, followed quickly by lemon and a low black pepper buzz that never quite resolves into proper spice. There's nothing soft about this opening. It reads like walking into a room that's been closed overnight. Some skin pulls more citrus, some pulls more greenery, but the temperature stays low. Around the thirty-minute mark the air shifts. The eucalyptus pulls back to a whisper rather than leaving entirely, and apple arrives with a faint sweetness that isn't sugary so much as crisp, like biting into fruit that's just cold enough to make your teeth notice. Jasmine enters here too, but tempered, sweetened by orange blossom and grounded by cedar so it never tips into indolic territory. This is the most wearing-friendly phase. It's where the fragrance feels most like a complete thought. After two hours the woody base starts to take over properly. The cashmeran does something specific: it softens everything that came before without erasing it.

Alexandrite wears like a study in controlled contrast, cool and green at the opening, warmer and softer as the hours unspool. Its profile reads as wood-toned rather than overtly floral, leaning on cedar and a quietly persistent musk in the drydown rather than the heavier indolic whites that anchor many mainstream florals. The composition rewards attention: it doesn't dazzle on first encounter so much as settle in, revealing the apple-and-cedar pairing and the gradual jasmine bloom only once you've spent time with it. The sillage stays moderate, close to skin, which suits a fragrance built around subtle shifts rather than projection.
