    Master Perfumer

    Sébastien Martin

Sébastien Martin grew up breathing in the air of Grasse. By thirteen, he had already decided this was his path. The son of Provence found his calling young, drawn to the aromatic abundance surrounding him in the city the world calls its perfume capital. He trained through ASFO, building the technical foundation that would support decades of creation. As chief perfumer for a Grasse-based house, he honed his craft across dozens of compositions before joining Créations et Parfums. A stint with ROBERTET deepened his understanding of raw materials. His recent work extends to the UAE market, where he now creates for clients in the Middle East. The boy who once watched National Geographic documentaries about distant lands never stopped looking outward.

    How Sébastien composes

Sébastien's work reflects both classical discipline and worldly curiosity. His aesthetic leans toward the refined but never predictable. He favors transparent structures that let quality ingredients speak rather than hide behind complexity. Musks appear frequently in his compositions, handled with precision and restraint. Rose and jasmine, the classics of his Grasse upbringing, surface often but never conventionally. His fascination with Far East culture reveals itself in unexpected material pairings and a certain spiced warmth that distinguishes his work. He gravitates toward compositions that feel both rooted and open, creations that carry a sense of place while inviting you somewhere unfamiliar.

    Philosophy

    What drives Sébastien

For Sébastien, fragrance is a cultural conversation. His early fascination with Eastern traditions, born from childhood documentaries and countless hours studying distant lands, shapes how he approaches a brief. He doesn't simply layer notes. He considers the story a scent should tell, the memory it should conjure, the emotion it should spark. Raw materials drive him. He's meticulous about sourcing and understanding what each ingredient can become in skilled hands. Though trained in classical French perfumery, he refuses to let tradition constrain him. He finds the most interesting work happens at the edges, where different worlds meet in a single composition.
