Old Fashioned

Gulf Orchid designed Old Fashioned to mirror the structure of its namesake drink. Cherry and fruity notes play the role of garnish, adding brightness and initial appeal. The rum heart functions like the spirit itself, providing warmth and body. Leather and vanilla represent the slow-sipped finish, the part that lingers after the glass is empty. Incense was included as a nod to the aromatic complexity of good bars, where smoke and scent become part of the experience. The result is a fragrance that reads differently from start to finish, moving from playful to grounded.

The evolution

The scent begins with cherry that feels almost popped, like a garnish dropped into a glass. Fruity notes amplify this in a way that stays clean and bright. Incense arrives shortly after, not as a heavy smoke but as a subtle atmospheric note that adds dimension. As minutes pass, rum emerges with its warm, slightly sweet booziness, and ginger lends a spice that tingles gently. The heart settles into clove and cedarwood, which slow the composition and introduce an herbal depth that recalls old-fashioned apothecary scents. By the time the drydown arrives, leather takes over as the dominant force, with balsamic notes and vanilla softening it into something warm and inviting. Patchouli and vetiver bring the composition to a close with an earthy, intimate finish that stays close to the skin for hours.
