The beginning
The Bite Collection from Gulf Orchid began with a different question than the house usually asks. Candy Bite arrived in 2025 as a counter-argument, proof that the brand could produce something that smells like the inside of a candy shop and still mean it. The name says everything. A bite, not a taste. Immediate. Deliberate. You do not dip into this one, you commit or you do not. The collection includes Cookie Bite, suggesting a broader idea at work. The house built a reputation on certain kinds of compositions, and this release operates in conversation with that history without being defined by it. Candy Bite stands on its own terms, relying on layered sweetness and material quality rather than novelty alone.
What makes the structure work is the way the sweetness is tiered, not flat. The top three, marshmallow, pear, and vanilla, do not blend into one blurry sweet smell. Marshmallow gives it that whipped, airy texture. Pear keeps it fruity without tipping into overripe territory. Vanilla ties them together with warmth that is not yet heavy. The heart amplifies without contradicting. Apricot brings stone-fruit weight to balance the airy top. Caramel thickens it. Jasmine stays subtle, present but not intrusive, a brief floral counterpoint that keeps the heart from becoming a single block of sugar.
The evolution
The first spray hits like stepping into a confectionery in the afternoon, marshmallow and vanilla cloud upward, pear cutting through with its crisp, bright note. Within five minutes the caramel arrives, heavier, rounder, pressing the sweetness down toward the skin. The jasmine surfaces briefly, a fleeting floral whisper that softens what could have become cloying. The drydown is where Candy Bite earns its keep. By hour two, the sugar and tonka have settled into something that reads almost skin-like, sweet, warm, but grounded. The sandalwood anchors it.
