The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Nebras draws from the Arabic word for light, a symbol of light and radiance. Lattafa Perfumes, founded in 1980 in Dubai by Sheikh Shahid Ahmad and Shoaib Iqbal, built its identity on the belief that Arabian luxury should remain accessible, with the name itself a nod to the Arabic Latif and Lateefa, meaning gentle and pleasant. Perfumer Nanako Ogi approached this fragrance with the concept of luminosity made tangible, translating that idea into a composition that feels bright and soft at once, using notes that carry an inherent glow.
The note selection reflects a deliberate approach to sweetness. Rather than relying on heavy gourmand elements, the combination of milk and sugar cane creates a clean, dairy-forward sweetness that avoids the saccharine. Heliotrope adds an understated floral dimension that lifts the composition, while ambroxan provides the mineral counterweight needed to keep the vanilla from overwhelming. Musk grounds everything, ensuring the fragrance feels like part of the skin rather than something layered on top.
The evolution
The journey begins with milk and whipped cream, a creamy, indulgent opening that feels like a soft light turned on in a darkened room. Within the first ten minutes, this richness begins to shift as sugar cane and heliotrope move into the heart, adding a cleaner sweetness that feels less like dessert and more like morning light through sheer curtains. Vanilla anchors the drydown, but ambroxan prevents the base from becoming simply sweet. Musk works quietly underneath, creating a warmth that sits close to the skin, making the radiance feel personal rather than broadcast.
Cultural impact
Nebras Elixir enters a Lattafa lineup known for sweet orientals, but it carves space through its heliotrope presence. Where many of the house's gourmand fragrances lean into fruit or heavy amber, this one settles into powdery florals. It finds common ground with the airy quality found in certain niche fragrances. The medicinal opening polarizes some, yet the warm vanilla drydown converts most who experience it. It appeals to those who want something softer and more Intimate, less aggressively sweet than typical within the house.
