The beginning
Mon Guerlain Bloom of Rose arrived as the second chapter in Guerlain's Mon Guerlain line. Where the original paired lavender and vanilla as a statement of contemporary femininity, Bloom of Rose pushes the floral thread forward. Bulgarian rose and neroli join the composition, adding complexity and depth to the original structure. The perfumers kept the Tahitian vanilla and sandalwood base. The base brings warmth and creaminess that supports the florals without overwhelming them. Bulgarian rose absolute offers a rich, enveloping quality while neroli contributes a bright, citrus-like floral edge. The core stays recognizable. The character shifts. It is the same house, the same woman, but a different mood, more bloom, less statement.

The evolution

The vanilla in the base is soft, not loud, not screechy, and the sandalwood smooths everything down to a close, warm skin-and-cream finish. What surprises is the lavender staying power.
