The brand's own note describes it simply: the moment you push open a heavy wooden door and drown in the smell of freshly cut wood, like a sawmill somewhere up in the mountains. There is no costume, no staging, no metaphor beyond the material itself. The fragrance is the scent of timber mid-cut, resin bleeding from the grain, the air thick with particulate. It belongs to the Black Alchemist sub-line of the catalogue, the arm of the house dedicated to dense, transformative compositions. The name itself is a thesis statement, and the juice that follows does exactly what it promises.
What makes Golden Sawdust unusual is its refusal to soften the wood into something palatable. This one stays in the workshop. The immortelle brings a honeyed, almost maple-syrup warmth that sweetens the edges without rounding them off. Labdanum and benzoin build the resinous undercurrent, the feeling of sap still moving inside the cut.
