The evolution

The first hour is deceptive. Citrus peel and green stems flash open alongside something already rich, a Malayan oud note that smells more like weathered wood than barnyard funk. Gardenia and jasmine arrive within the opening phase, creamy rather than indolic, and rose threads beneath them without ever fully declaring itself. Ylang-ylang peeks through as the heart develops, adding a buttery sweetness that bridges floral and resinous territory. As the composition matures, it shifts entirely. Incense rises, slow and meditative, while oakmoss and cedar ground it. The amber base warms up from underneath, and that initial oud, which seemed almost citrusy at the start, now reads its full character. On skin the drydown settles into old wood and the faintest ghost of rose, still alive on fabric hours later, with a presence that stays noticeable without demanding attention.
