The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Amplify launched in 2025, the handiwork of Adam Bujairami, a perfumer building a house around dense, attention-demanding juice. The fragrance takes its cues from Xerjoff's Tony Iommi Monkey Special, a composition in the oriental-woody register, and channels that same heavy-handed DNA. The result is a rum-and-leather bomb that opens like a bar tab and closes like a leather chair. There's no apology in the construction, no sillage moderation, no half-measures on the sweet side. It is built to be smelled across a room, and it does not pretend otherwise. What comes out of the bottle is a thesis on what loud, unapologetic perfumery looks like when every ingredient is given permission to speak at once.
What makes Amplify worth a second look is the conversation between the opening and the base. Rum and passion fruit give the first act a cocktail-loud energy, almost disorienting, before the leather-and-patchouli middle steers things toward something more grounded. Then the base of caramel, labdanum, and tonka arrives like a dessert cart. It is a fragrance that keeps switching tables on you. The opening pulls you into a tiki bar, the heart drops you into a cigar lounge, and the drydown settles into a pastry window after midnight.
The evolution
The first 20 minutes belong to the rum. It is loud, almost cocktail-like, sweet and slightly chemical in a way that reads as heat rather than alcohol. Passion fruit pushes up underneath, giving the top a ripe, almost bruised quality, while bergamot and geranium keep things from tipping into pure sugar. By the 45-minute mark the leather arrives, and it is not shy. It brings the patchouli and cinnamon with it, the rose acting more as a smoothing agent than a floral lead. Two hours in, the caramel and tonka start absorbing everything above them. What began as a rum-soaked opening has now become a warm amber blanket, the labdanum and sandalwood holding the underside while vanilla and ambergris ghost along the edges.
Cultural impact
Amplify arrived in 2025 from Bujairami. It draws clear inspiration from Tony Iommi Monkey Special by Xerjoff, placing it inside a conversation around compositions that translate established DNA into a new bottle. For Bujairami, Amplify functions as a statement piece. The juice leans into rum, leather, and a dense amber drydown, building the composition around resin-heavy materials and sweet gourmand textures rather than florals or aquatics.
