The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Bujairami launched Her in 2020 as its debut fragrance, a clear statement of intent from the brand. The brief was simple: create something that embodied the house identity. Modern. Provocative. Wearable. A Berlin-based perfumer known for his work with Escentric Molecules and numerous niche houses approached it with a different sensibility than most fashion-brand fragrances. Instead of playing it safe with a generic floral, he built the composition around an unusual combination, sparkling citrus cutting through a rich floral heart of jasmine, orange blossom, and violet. The top notes arrived bright and clean: orange, pear, bergamot.
What makes Her interesting is how the bright citrus functions as a counterweight to the floral richness. The perfumer didn't build this as a straightforward oriental floral, he threaded cool, almost sparkling notes through the warm heart. The result is a fragrance that feels neither purely sweet nor purely fresh. Jasmine provides the richness, but orange blossom adds a refined, almost elegant quality that keeps it from becoming cloying.
The evolution
The opening announces itself quickly, a burst of citrus and ripe fruit that feels bright and modern. Orange sparkles first, bringing a clean, effervescent quality. Pear follows with its soft, watery sweetness, creating a fruity freshness that feels contemporary. Bergamot adds a citrus nuance that grounds the top notes without being sharp or aggressive. Within fifteen minutes, the citrus begins to settle, and the jasmine starts to emerge from the heart, adding richness. Orange blossom follows, soft and slightly bitter, blending with the violet to create a warm floral core that becomes the fragrance's defining character. The drydown is where Her earns its reputation. Cedarwood arrives first, woody and dry, followed by light amber that adds a warm, honeyed quality. The vanilla surfaces subtly, giving the base a creamy warmth that keeps it from becoming purely woody.
Cultural impact
Her arrived as Bujairami's entry into the fragrance market, a contemporary brand translating its design-led identity into scent. The launch positioned it alongside accessible modern fragrances, appealing to consumers who wanted something contemporary without the associated luxury pricing. The composition, bright citrus and fruity florals over a warm oriental base, reflected the modern sensibility the brand was building.
