The evolution

The opening stages unfold as a controlled argument between spice and warmth. Coriander seed and sichuan pepper provide a sharp, buzzing top note while saffron sits underneath, golden and slightly leathery. Nothing here reads as delicate. As the opening surrenders, Indonesian patchouli moves forward, dark and damp, like soil after a long rain. Iris arrives next, not as a floral whisper but as something powdery and cool, a brief pause in the composition's heat. The transition into the drydown is where this fragrance earns its reputation. Oud doesn't crash in, it seeps, a slow resinous saturation that wraps around sandalwood's creaminess. Tonkin musk underneath adds skin warmth, animalic without being aggressive.
