The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Epic Blu comes from Asgharali, a fragrance house whose catalogue includes a range of attars, bakhoor, and bottled compositions. Epic Blu steps sideways from that lineup into a more open, aromatic aquatic register, a category the brand has explored alongside its denser, resinous offerings. The fragrance opens with a clean burst of aquatic notes that carry an immediate freshness, like a cold current of mineral water breaking across warm skin. Within minutes, that cool top accord starts to settle, and the green facets of coriander, juniper, and rosemary surface with a crisp herbal clarity. There's a slightly bitter edge to the juniper that keeps the opening from reading too sweet, while the coriander adds a soft, almost citrusy lift that brightens the whole composition.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the meeting point it builds between two scent worlds. The coriander, juniper, and rosemary give it a green, slightly bitter sharpness on opening, the kind of crisp herbal accord that reads clean and invigorating on skin. As those top notes begin to soften, the character of the fragrance shifts. Patchouli and amber come forward in the base, adding a warm, earthy weight that grounds the composition. The aquatic note up top acts as the bridge between these two halves, keeping the freshness alive even as the warmer base notes take over.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all air and cold citrus. Coriander gives it a slightly metallic, almost gin-like edge that cuts through whatever heat surrounds you. There's a clean, soapy quality to the opening that some will love and others will find a little anonymous. Around the 20-minute mark, the herbs arrive properly. Sage and rosemary push through, grounding the marine top with something greener and more deliberate. Juniper adds a peppery snap that keeps the whole thing from going too soft. By the two-hour mark, the composition has settled into a quieter place. Patchouli darkens the edges, and the amber and musk start doing their slow work underneath. It doesn't transform dramatically. The base simply absorbs the opening, leaving a skin-close warmth that smells faintly spiced, faintly salty, and distinctly lived-in. On fabric the musk lingers longest, sometimes into the next day.
Cultural impact
Epic Blu occupies a distinct position within Asgharali's catalogue, offering a lighter, more open style of fragrance compared to the heavier compositions the house is also known for. It's a scent that performs well in warm weather, with an aquatic freshness up top and a warm, resinous base that gives it versatility across different settings. The fragrance opens with a clean, watery accord that reads immediately refreshing, then transitions through green herbal notes of coriander, juniper, and rosemary before settling into a base of patchouli and amber.
