The pineapple opens bright and almost aggressive, sharp enough to cut through a crowded room, before the caramel layers underneath and softens the edges into something warmer and more inviting. Black pepper and pink pepper thread through the top, giving the sweetness a controlled burn, not sharp enough to sting but warm enough to notice.
What makes this composition worth attention is the structural choice underneath the obvious sweetness. Pineapple and caramel carry the top, but the heart threads star anise and oakmoss through jasmine and lily of the valley, a chypre-leaning middle that keeps the fruit from reading juvenile. The star anise adds a licorice flicker that complicates the sweetness, pulling it somewhere herbal and slightly bitter. Oakmoss darkens the jasmine, grounding the white florals so they don't float off into soap.
The evolution
