The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Pear Musk, composed in 2025, takes a different approach to the fruit note. The idea wasn't to preserve the pear, it was to make it last differently. Fruit notes tend to announce and retreat, leaving florals and woods to do the rest. Here, the fruity accord stays close, keeping the composition pear-forward even as it deepens. Working within the brand's philosophy, the fragrance was built as a deliberate counter to that trend: the pear remains the primary character throughout the development, rather than appearing as a brief flourish at the top. This structural choice means the composition maintains its fruity character even as it evolves, creating a scent experience that feels cohesive from opening to drydown.
The fruity accord is the real structural choice here, extending beyond the opening and keeping the pear visible even as the heart develops. Freesia adds a cool lift that keeps the florals from becoming heavy. Muguet contributes a soft, floral quality that complements the pear without competing with it. The combination gives the heart a luminous quality. At the base, sandalwood softens, supporting the vanilla and amber rather than dominating them. Musk provides a quiet anchor throughout, present from the start and increasingly felt as the florals settle.
The evolution
The opening establishes the fruity character immediately. Bright, dewy pear arrives with a natural tartness that reads as freshness. This initial phase allows the florals to move in as the top notes settle. The heart introduces peony and a whisper of muguet, with a sweet warmth building that bridges the gap between the bright top and the warmer base. As the florals settle, a powdery quality emerges, clean and soft, with the vanilla beginning to assert itself. The drydown is where Pear Musk earns its name. Amber and sandalwood provide structure, but the vanilla lingers, creamy and intimate, wrapping the skin in warmth that stays close. The progression feels natural, each stage flowing into the next without sharp transitions.
Cultural impact
Pear Musk enters a landscape where fragrance houses are building their presence beyond traditional oriental compositions. The house has developed its reputation through accessible, everyday scents, and this fragrance represents a move toward international fruity-floral territory. The scent profile aligns with broader movements in regional perfumery, where houses are creating compositions that appeal across markets while maintaining their own identity. These fragrances demonstrate how regional houses are contributing diverse options to the global fragrance conversation.
